Kier and Wilcon Homes scooped the top prizes for contractors and housebuilders at this year's Building Awards, held on Wednesday night.
They were joined by Marks Barfield Architects, named architectural practice of the year, and Davis Langdon & Everest, which won the surveying practice award.

In two categories voted for by Building readers, Westbury chief executive Martin Donohue won personality of the year and supermarket giant Tesco was named top client.

St George Regeneration won the first sustainability award and Wates Construction picked up the first e-construction award.

Shepherd Engineering was named specialist subcontractor of the year. Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects won the construction best practice award.

The contracting winners were: Kier (major contractor); Thomas Vale Construction (contractor); and Roberts Construction (regional contractor). The housebuilding winners were: Wilcon Homes (major housebuilder); St George (housebuilder); and Weston Homes (regional).

The consultant winners were Marks Barfield Architects, Haworth Tompkins Architects (young architectural practice), Davis Langdon & Everest, WSP (multidisciplinary practice) and Citex (project manager).

Travis Perkins won national builders merchant, with EH Smith landing the local merchant prize.
