Kier has won the £285m job to rebuild the notorious Broadmoor mental health facility

The West London Mental Health Trust confirmed that Kier has been selected as the preferred bidder for the job, which involves the construction of 34,000 sq m of buildings adjacent to the current Broadmoor hospital site

It is understood that Kier beat rivals Vinci, Willmott Dixon, Balfour Beatty and Skanska or the job.

According to construction data provider Barbour ABI the contract is worth £285m.

Plans for the 16-ward, 234-bed redevelopment, got outline permission from the Department of Health last year and are being brought forward by West London Mental Health Trust.

Construction of the new facility is expected to start towards the end of this year.
