Team to start later this month

Kier has chalked up a £12.5m deal to build a leisure centre in Nottinghamshire for Ashfield council.

The scheme at Kirkby-in-Ashfield is designed by architect GT3 with the project team also including QS Faithful & Gould, specialist leisure consultant FMG, project manager Hadron Consulting, structural engineer Engenuiti and M&E consultant Desco.

It will include a 25m four-lane swimming pool, a spa, a four-court sports hall, a climbing wall, gym, fitness studios, meeting rooms and a sensory room.

An existing leisure centre on the site will be demolished once the new leisure centre is complete.

Enabling works have been underway since October with Kier due to formally begin the main building programme this month.

Kier is due to give a trading update on 19 January.
