Kent council names consortium led by Kier as preferred bidder for its £500m school rebuilding programme

A consortium led by Kier has been named preferred bidder for Kent County Council’s £500m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

The Investors in the Community group, which includes Land Securities Trillium, the Mill Group and Northgate, pipped Skanska RM to the contract, which could be one of the largest in the BSF programme.

The Invicta Learning Partnership, comprising John Laing Social Partnerships, Laing O’Rourke and Centreprise, had already been knocked out of the contest.

The first projects in the scheme are expected to be worth around £233m. The total value of the programme over the first decade could reach £500m.
