Energy costs force materials giant to increase price of bulk and packed cements

Lafarge Cement has raised the price of its bulk and packed cements by up to 15% as its looks to offset the cost of rising energy prices.

In a statement the company said it was working hard to contain inflationary pressures such as continually rising energy prices for coal, gas and electricity and the cost-impact of the carbon tax regime.

Sales director David Miller explained that the price rise was a reflection of the impact of increased costs on the business. He added that it was staking steps to contain the added costs such as using alternative fuels and extending the level of additions in their cement.
