Laing has the tenth fastest profit growth in the UK according to The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 survey.

Laing O’Rourke is Britain’s 10th fastest growing firm according to The Sunday Times Profit Track 100. Among construction companies only Harron Homes was higher placed in 8th position, a rise of 23 places on the previous year. Laing O’Rourke was 21st in 2004.

Laing had an annual profit growth of 102% from 2003-4 while Harron Homes recorded growth of 109%. Harron builds over 350 homes in the Midlands and the North, and has a turnover of £55.5m. Laing’s turnover last year was £1.5bn.

Construction was well represented in the annual growth chart. M&E contractor NG Bailey was 19th, and recorded growth of 81%, while other top 50 finishes included Strata Group at 25th, Bennett Homes at 26, Churchill Retirement Living at 34 and Broadgate Homes at 38th.

Other construction firms in the list included Wates at 52, May Gurney at 60 and Midas Group at 85.
