Lend lease has won a framework contract to oversee £150m of construction work at the Victoria & Albert Museum in central London, including Daniel Libeskind's £75m spiral extension.
Lend Lease's Real Estate Solutions division beat off bids from rivals such as Heery International to win the job. The masterplan was drawn up by architect Metaphor.

Lend Lease's role is to offer project management advice on construction work ranging from £250,000 to £12m. This varies from reconfiguring the entrance to the museum to moving galleries and planning the Libeskind spiral. The building of the spiral, which has yet to receive funding, will be tendered as a separate construction management scheme.

A source close to the V&A said: "We are using Lend Lease to give power to the V&A's building department. It's quite an open-ended appointment. The V&A has a 15-year masterplan but has yet to finalise the details of the programme."
