Lendlease has appointed former Berkeley Group planning boss Lucy Bird as its new director of town planning.

At Berkeley, she headed up the planning division for its St William division – a joint venture between the firm and National Grid – and previously for its Berkeley Homes north east London division.

Bird led planning for a number of regeneration sites and redevelopment projects across London and the south east, including 5,500 homes at Woodberry Down near Finsbury Park.

Prior to joining Berkeley in February 2014, she held a number of senior roles at the Greater London Authority over a two-and-a-half year period, where she worked on numerous schemes for former mayor Boris Johnson, including the Olympic Legacy Communities Scheme.
