A London borough is searching for a partner to develop a £350m commercial centre for cancer research.

The London Cancer Hub Campus, in south west London, is already home to The Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research.

But now Sutton council wants to create a new 280,000 sq m building on site for medical, pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

A design for the building (pictured) has been drawn up by Haptic Architects and Nordic — Office of Architecture, in collaboration with consultants JLL and WSP as well as project management specialist Inner Circle.

A developer is expected to undertake further design and planning works, as well as raise development finance and procure contractors.

Firms have until 11 March to register their interest, with invitations to tender due to be dispatched on 23 April.

A winning firm will be appointed this year, with detailed permission for the first phase due to be complete next year.

Sutton council has said phase one of the scheme should be finished by 2022.
