Boris Johnson has said 50 public realm projects throughout the capital will receive £220m of funding from various bodies, including Transport for London and the London Development Agency, over the next three years

However, Jenny Jones, leader of the London Green party, accused the mayor of making a “re-announcement”.

Johnson said a total of £180m would be invested in street and public spaces, and that £40m was earmarked for parks and waterways.

But a spokesperson for the mayor admitted that the money was not new funding.

At the same time, the London mayor launched a manifesto to “create beautifully designed oases throughout the capital’s urban jungle, ranging from redesigned streets to reclaimed green spaces”.
