A primary school in King’s Cross, London, plans to fund its £11m building programme by leasing the air-rights for student accommodation. Architect Shepheard Epstein Hunter has designed the school on the ground floor with 165 student rooms rising to six storeys above it. The 6000 m2 building is arranged around the perimeter of the site, with space for outdoor playgrounds and a nature garden. The developer, the London Diocesan Board for Schools, has brought in Unite as leaseholder, Alan Conisbee and Associates as structural engineer, Michael Popper Associates as services engineer and Cook & Butler as quantity surveyor.
