Social housing contractor Lovell has launched a residential training academy and is planning to recruit up to 100 apprentices over the next three years.
Working in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board and Stephenson College in Coalville, Leicestershire, the initiative is set to commence by the end of this month.

The new Lovell Craft Management Academy will give 16-19-year-olds from across the country a three-year apprenticeship with a week-long residential induction.

The apprentices will spend further week-long residential sessions at Stephenson College in all three years of the course.

Lovell national training manager Trevor Robinson said the academy would provide a supportive learning environment for trainees, and network opportunities to enable the sharing of ideas and skills.

He said: "Each apprentice will have a customised learning programme which will allow fast tracking, with the opportunity to go into site management, multiskilling or specialisation after finishing their apprenticeship."

Lovell is also increasing on-site training and assessment with 60% of the training syllabus to be delivered on site.
