Listed building in St James’s due for revamp

Mace has landed work to revamp the listed former headquarters of HSBC’s private bank.

The firm has been appointed to overhaul 78 St James’s Street, around the corner from Pall Mall in St James’s, for Canadian investment firm BentallGreenOak.

As well as refurbishing and fitting out the grade II*-listed building, Mace will add a rooftop extension to give views over nearby Green Park.

The completed scheme will cover 110,000ft2 of office space.

The listed front section of the building, which was initially completed in 1840, will be converted to provide a wellness suite, a business lounge and a multi-function room.
