Firm will deliver new hold baggage screening facility,

Mace has won a £17.7m contract at Gatwick airport to deliver its new hold baggage screening facility, as it steps up its exposure to the global airport sector.

The company has carried out similar works at Heathrow airport and this experience was leveraged to win the Gatwick contract, which will involve the development of the 50 year old building. It forms part of Gatwick’s £1bn improvement programme.

Mace has been active on frameworks at Heathrow for a number of years and has delivered similar projects for Heathrow owners, BAA.

Mace will partner with Siemens on the Gatwick HBS facility, in a continuation of a relationship which has seen the two firms work on airports in Doha, Nigeria and Mumbai.
