All 18 staff made redundant at Oldham-based specialist

All 18 staff have been made redundant at M&E specialist FT Gordon ahead of the firm’s liquidation next week.

The Oldham-based firm – which worked for main contractors including Laing O’Rourke, Wates and Lovell – was closed down on 11 July by insolvency practitioner Bridgestones.

Bridgestones will liquidate the firm on 9 August.

FT Gordon is the third M&E contractor to close in a month, after Leeds-based Airedale and Hampshire-based Specialist Engineering Contracts.

FT Gordon was established in 1960 and worked on a number of major projects in the north, including Manchester’s No 1 Spinningfields Square and BT’s new telesales centre in Doncaster.

Bridgestones told Building the company was put into liquidation because it was no longer able to trade and pay its creditors due to its financial position.

A meeting for creditors is scheduled for 9 August.
