Completion of Bedford extra care scheme scheduled for early 2013

Mansell has won a £13m contract to build an extra care scheme in Bedford. Constructed on behalf for client Orbit Heart of England.

The scheme involves the part demolition of a school with and a new four-storey facility built to Code for Sustainable Homes level 4.

The 104-bed extra care scheme will consist of one and two-bed apartments for affordable rent and shared ownership for the over 55s.

Refurb of two Victorian villas to BREEAM Very Good rating is also being carried out to house offices and communal facilities, including a restaurant, hairdressers and a cinema.

Work on site is due to begin soon with completion on the project scheduled for February 2013
