Framework deal to redevelop US Air Force accommodation at RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk could be worth £127m.

Balfour Beatty subsidiary Mansell has won a £14.5m construction contract with the United States Air Force.

Mansell, which specialises in construction and property services, has been awarded the first construction phase to redevelop USAF staff accommodation facilities at RAF Lakenheath Suffolk.

Under the Framework partnering Contract Mansell will replace USAF housing stock with 89 new dwellings in the first phase of the five-year masterplan.

Balfour Beatty says the £1.3m design work for phases two and three, which will have a construction value of £53m, is well underway. The entire project for 606 dwellings is likely to have an overall value of £127m once completed.

Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler said: “Mansell’s order book has grown by 35% to £438m since it joined the Group.

“Its position in the fast-growing social housing market has been further strengthened and the work coming through its long-term framework agreements with blue chip customers has continued to expand.”
