Infrastructure services firm secures BSF deal with North Lincolnshire council

North Lincolnshire council and infrastructure services company May Gurney will officially sign their commitment to a £91m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme on 21 July.

This will allow the first £38m to be invested into building work and ICT facilities for Brumby Engineering College and Mellior College.

The agreement will be the last piece in the jigsaw to securing BSF for secondary schools in North Lincolnshire, through the creation of Engage North Lincolnshire partnership between the council and May Gurney.

May Gurney will carry out the initial investment work and will be responsible for maintaining the schools and their ICT facilities in the future.

The summer will see building work start at two sites, with work begun at other four secondary schools

Work will begin first at Brumby Engineering College, with a development that will consist of 65% rebuild and modernising. At Mellior College, which focuses on business, enterprise and the arts, a complete rebuild will begin this summer.

Councillor Tony Gosling, council cabinet member for children's services said: “This summer is a really exciting time for secondary schools in the area.

“By the end of the summer building work will be under way at both Brumby Engineering College and Mellior College, and design work will have started for the other four secondary schools, St Bedes, Frederick Gough, Foxhills technology college and the St Lawrence academy.”
