Architects John McAslan & Partners and HOK Sport have won a high-profile competition to redevelop Ascot racecourse from a shortlist of eight practices.
The contract, believed to be worth £100m, will include two new stands to the north of the present seating.

The racecourse claims the scheme will be the most expensive redevelopment of a racetrack in Europe. Plans are due to be completed next year with construction expected to start in summer 2004.

Ascot racecourse chief executive Douglas Erskine-Crum said: "We are confident that the architects' collaboration on this project will create one of the new century's most exciting sports architectural designs for the royal racecourse."
