Contract wins since March increase firm’s order book to £2.7bn

Mears has secured £120m of new contract awards since March according to a trading statement released to the City today.

In the last two months the firm won a string of contracts that have boosted its order book to £2.7bn, with 93% of the year’s target revenue of £620m having already been secured.

Successes for the firm include a £52m repair and maintenance contract for Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association spanning ten years and several domiciliary care contracts worth £37m.

Commenting chief executive David Miles said: “We continue to see high levels of opportunity within the public sector. We believe that the demand and opportunity for our two growth markets will continue to be strong and that Mears is well placed to benefit.

“Most importantly, we have the right management team in place to take our business forward and capitalise on the many opportunities available in our growth markets.”
