Architect PRP has been appointed to take forward this design for a housing scheme in Miles Platting, east Manchester.

The £100m PFI deal will refurbish 1600 council properties and create 1000 new-build family houses and flats. A neighbourhood plan will be finalised by late summer and a five-year refurbishment programme for the existing properties will start next year. Construction work will start on site in 2008. The winning Renaissance consortium, led by social housebuilder Lovell and including Family Housing Association and PFI specialists Mill Group, beat a Laing O'Rourke consortium to win the contract.
