Specialist will provide FM services to 46 schools as part of Equitix consortium

Mitie, as part of the Equitix consortium, has been awarded a £65m deal to provide facilities management to 46 schools across Derbyshire.

Derbyshire county council named Equitix as the preferred bidder on the first-phase project of its £750m Building Schools for the Future programme transforming secondary education.

As part of the consortium, Mitie will provide facilities management, which will include building and asset maintenance, over 25 years.

The contract is expected to be confirmed on 20 March, with service delivery commencing in September 2010.

Patrick Stirland, managing director of Mitie's facilities management business, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded preferred bidder status as part of the Equitix consortium. This is the first stage of what will be an exciting partnership with Derbyshire county council, which we believe will bring true value in developing the FM solution for these schools in the future.”
