Multidisciplinary firm Mitie has won a £90m contract from Birmingham council’s housing department to repair and maintain properties in the city.

The partnering agreement will last for four years and is designed to improve the council’s repair and maintenance service at 27,000 properties in the south of the city.

Under the contract, more than 105,000 repairs to properties are expected each year. So far Mitie has completed about 18,500 repairs.

Mitie’s is expected to help increase the council’s one-star rating for its housing service, awarded by the Audit Commission.

Peter Johnson, partnership manager for Mitie, said: “The partnering agreement will result in discernable housing improvements for tenants.”
