Defence minister Dr Lewis Moonie this week announced an investment and restructuring programme for London's defence estate.
The programme, which is subject to consultation and approval, will concentrate on developing two core Ministry of Defence sites in Uxbridge, west London, and Woolwich, south-east London.

The project, known as MoD Estate in London, or MoDEL, will develop RAF Northolt (a barracks in Woolwich) and a former US navy site at RAF Uxbridge.

Moonie said it was important to improve the quality of life for service personnel and their families.

He said: "I am pleased to announce these plans, which will ensure that the defence estate in London is run efficiently and cost effectively."
