The only building is a visitor centre situated some distance from the standing stones and designed by Australian practice Denton Corker Marshall as a long, low wall that seems to disappear into the landscape. From there a train will take visitors on a 25-minute tour around several archaeological sites to the stones. Results of a planning inquiry into the Highways Agency’s proposal to sink the A303 into a tunnel are expected before the end of this year.
