E-CONSTRUCTION was hit by another setback this week when Bovis Lend Lease pulled out of the global internet hub Aecventure.
Aecventure's remaining partners include Hochtief, Amec, Skanska and Turner.

Bovis' decision to withdraw from Aecventure comes a week after UK portal Arrideo was axed, as it was set to become the first local arm of the multinational hub, because its partners – Bovis Lend Lease, Laing, Skanska, Balfour Beatty and Amec – said there was insufficient interest to justify developing it.

Aecventure was designed to act as an online building procurement platform for engineering, architecture and construction firms.

Research firm Jupiter MMXI has identified two construction industry portals it believes are likely to succeed in the business-to-business market. They are BuildOnline and Sweden-based eu-supply.com. Both were named in a list of 10 that included food suppliers and mobile phone firms.

Each venture was praised for its high volume of transactions, gaining industry backing and having real-world integration.
