Investment unit selected as preferred bidder for 20 year scheme

Morgan Sindall has been announced as the preferred bidder for a £450m regeneration scheme in Southampton docks.

The 20-year Royal Pier Waterfront scheme will be a major mixed-use development including homes, offices, shops and leisure facilities.

Morgan Sindall Investments Limited (MSIL) was selected from a shortlist of three by Southampton City Council. The council jointly owns the 60-acre site with the Crown Estate and Associated British Ports.

MSIL will now work with their clients to draw up proposal plans with a public consultation due next year. Regeneration of the docks is a key part of Southampton City Council’s masterplan for the area known as Renaissance Vision.

Ernie Battey, executive chairman with MSIL, said: “This mixed-use development has the potential to position Southampton at the forefront of world-class waterfront schemes and MSIL has the experience, knowledge and financial stability that will be crucial to its successful delivery.”
