Morgan Sindall’s refurbishment of 160-year old Billings building in Guildford has become the first project to be awarded the Carbon Trust’s Low Carbon Workplace Standard.

The scheme for client Investec Wealth and Investment Management was undertaken by Morgan Sindall fit-out arm Morgan Lovell, managed by consultant Gleeds, and designed by Duggan Morris Architects.

The refurbishment included a complete replacement of the central mechanical and electrical services, secondary glazing throughout, improved insulation and optimised lighting controls. The retrofit reduced emissions per person by 33%.
