Contractor says rail, roads, aviation and energy are the key to financial success

Contractor Morgan Sindall is to target infrastructure projects to grow its construction business.

In a statement to the market this morning the firm said it was eyeing road, rail, aviation and energy distribution projects to bring it success.

The firm added: “The construction and infrastructure division’s markets remain highly competitive and we are seeking to counter the ongoing margin pressure that we face through careful contract selection, tight control of costs and overheads.”

Morgan Sindall has recently won a contract for a £28m joint venture energy scheme with Yorkshire Water and been appointed preferred bidder for a wide ranging £200m public sector infrastructure contract in West Scotland.

In addition, it said that its affordable housing arm had seen modest improvement in the first few months of 2012. It said it was investing in mixed-tenure regeneration work but that a constrained mortgage market would limit growth potential.
