Environmental consultant Fulcrum is to be brought in to work on the £13bn Masdar carbon-neutral city in the UAE as the first fruits of its purchase by UK engineer Mott MacDonald

Mott announced it was to buy Fulcrum late last week for an undisclosed sum thought to be less than £10m. Mott said it will keep on all of Fulcrum’s 95 staff and seek to integrate the firm into its day-to-day business and offering to existing customers.

Mott’s main London office will move to Fulcrum’s headquarters on Rosebery Avenue in London. Fulcrum founders Andy Ford and Brian Marks are to remain with the business.

Mike Barker, group buildings director at Mott, said that one of the first things Fulcrum could help with is Mott’s Masdar commission.
