Infrastructure services group Mouchel Parkman, which has reported an 82% rise in pre-tax profit for the year ending 31 July, plans to double in size over the next four years.

The company, which is changing its name to Mouchel Group, posted a pre-tax profit of £48.1m, up from £26.4m. Turnover rose 20% to £448.4m.

Richard Cuthbert, the chief executive, said: “There are plenty of opportunities for organic growth through public infrastructure work. We are also looking for further acquisitions.”

Cuthbert declined to identify companies he was interested in but said the acquisition last year of Hornagold & Hills had been a “great buy”, despite founder Stan Hornagold leaving earlier this year. He said he was looking for similar “bolt-on” acquisitions with a turnover of at least £10m.
