Malcolm Nelson of Laing O'Rourke has been named Construction Manager of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Building.
He beat off 80 other finalists for his work on the redevelopment of the town centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire (pictured) to gain a gold medal and the overall award. Nelson started the £131m project as a planner, providing pre-contract and programming advice, prior to taking on the role of construction manager.
