Company looks to bolster overhead electrification team with invite to 50 key employees at Kent engineering firm in administration

Network Rail has invited 50 employees of Elec-Track Installations Ltd to build up the company’s in-house overhead electrification team.

The Kent-based engineering firm is currently in administration and has previously delivered work for Network Rail.

Peter Henderson, group infrastructure director at Network Rail, said: “We hope these key ETI employees will join our team and add another core competence to our engineering capacity. This follows a clear strategy to bolster – where necessary – our capability, such as the earlier bringing in-house of maintenance and signalling design.”

The news comes three days after Network Rail announced beefing up its own team of overhead electrification engineers, after the investigation into the delays over the new year’s period showed they were a scarce resource.

Network Rail said it was looking at appointing a couple of hundred specialist engineers within the next twelve to 18 months.
