Luton headquarters has been designed by Scott Brownrigg to adapt to the future requirements of R&D.

The new HQ of BAE Systems designed by Scott Brownrigg has been officially opened by His Royal Highness The Duke of York.

The four-storey atrium office building for the Avionics EW Sector has been built in Capability Business Park, Luton and has been designed to accommodate 1,000 engineering and support staff.

The atrium contains the main circulation and communal facilities and features a two-storey metal grey pod, which appears to be floating above the entrance lobby.

Timber benches are also suspended from the meeting pod via steel rods, which the architect says the design reflects the hi-tech nature of BAE’s R&D work.
