Arup’s Peter Head and Aggregate Industries’ Bill Bolsover also receive CBEs for services to engineering and construction

Atkins chief executive Keith Clarke and Aggregate Industries chair Bill Bolsover led the industry’s New Year honours today.

They both received CBEs, as did Arup director Peter Head, architect Edward Jones, Planning Inspectorate chief executive Katrine Sporle, and Homes & Communities Agency chair Robert Napier.

Professor Brian Collins, the government’s chief science adviser, and Nigel Smith, the former chief executive of the Office of Government Commerce, received knighthoods. The OGC works on improving government procurement, while Professor Collins feeds into sustainability issues.

Receiving OBEs were Orla Carr, a director at modular building group McAvoy; Lynne Sullivan, architect and founder of SustainableBYdesign; and accountant Ken Wild, who helped government on improve its PFI reporting standards.

John Murphy, the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme manager, was awarded MBE. Joining Murphy was Chelliah Yogamoorthy lead QS at the Highways Agency.
