The 30,000-seat grandstand at Ascot Racecourse is to open for this year's royal meeting on 20 June.

The stand, designed by HOK Sport and built by contractor Laing O'Rourke, will have 272 private boxes, including the royal box. Construction started in summer 2004. The form of the building is a 480 m paraboloid with a fabric roof, with views of the course to the north and of Windsor Great Park beyond.
