Norwest Holst, a subsidiary of French contractor Vinci, has acquired Midlands construction group Weaver for an undisclosed sum.

Weaver, which is in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, reported an annual turnover of £43m for the year ending April 2007 and is forecast to achieve £50m turnover for the this financial year.

Its project portfolio includes retail construction and the redevelopment of NHS hospitals and schools in Worcestershire.

The acquisition of the company, which will continue to trade under the Weaver name, forms part of Vinci’s strategy to develop a network of regional contractors across England and Wales. They will tackle jobs with a contract value of up to £5m.

A spokesperson for Norwest Holst said: “The geographical presence and sectors of activity of Weaver complement those of Norwest Holst’s existing building offices in the Midlands.”

Steve Hudson and Phil Waite, formerly of Norwest Holst’s West Midlands building division, have been appointed as general manager-director and commercial director of Weaver.
