New control tower will oversee tank displays and pyrotechnics at £10m extention to Bovington Tank Musuem

A new control tower has been craned into position at Bovington Tank Museum by contractor Norwest Holst.

The tower will act as an observation tower for battle re-enactments in the museum’s new £10m display hall.

The 13.5 tonne pod was pre-fabricated in two halves and welded on site before being placed on the lower section of the tower.

The museum extension, which will display tanks from Bovington’s collection, is expected to be completed in six weeks.
