French architect Jean Nouvel has been appointed to design of a new tower to be built adjacent to the Museum of Modern Arts in New York City.

The 75-story building will be used for an expansion of the museum galleries, a luxury hotel with 100 rooms, and apartments on the higher floors. Presales for the 17,000 ft2 site are due to start in late 2008 and will be managed by international real estate company Hines.
