An unofficial competition has been launched for the regeneration of Cowgate in Edinburgh, part of which was destroyed by fire late last year. The organisers – Adrian Welch, of local practice Edinburgh Contemporary Architecture, and Dan Frydman, managing director of design firm Indigo Media – hope that ideas from the contest will act as catalysts for the site's redevelopment. There are three categories: one for architects, one for architecture and design students and one for the public. Results will be announced in March. For more details, log on to www.southbridge.org.uk.
