In contrast to the larger stadium next door, the 13,000-capacity Wembley Arena has been refurbished on time and on budget. The £35m makeover of the arena by PRP Architects and Tooley & Foster Partnership has been completed in 15 months by John Sisk & Son.
The stage has been switched with the main entrance so that it opens on to a public square, a restaurant has been added, and the external fabric refurbished. The arena was developed by Quintain Estates as part of a £2.5bn leisure complex, with Stace as project manager, Halcrow Group as structural engineer, Hilson Moran Partnership as services engineer and Gardiner & Theobald as cost consultant.
