One World Trade Center tops New York

This week construction of the £1.8bn One World Trade Center reached the 100^th floor (381m) to surpass the Empire State Building and become the tallest building in New York. SOM Architects’ and Tishman Construction’s tower is the biggest part of the £11bn World Trade Centre rebuilding project to replace the Twin Towers destroyed in the September 11^th attacks. When the tower is eventually complete in 2013 it will become the tallest building in the US and the tallest office-only tower in the world reaching a height of 1,776ft.
