Ucatt and Construction Safety Campaign to stage minute's silence outside Marriotts Close site

A vigil will be held in Oxford tomorrow to mark the death of a construction worker injured on a Simons Construction site in Witney, Oxfordshire.

Altin Balla died at the weekend from his injuries after being airlifted to hospital from the Marriotts Close development site.

It is believed that the 28-year-old from Aberystwyth in west Wales was trapped and crushed by steel girders while operating a cherry-picker.

Ucatt trade unionists and representatives from the Construction Safety Campaign will gather outside the site in Marriotts Way at 12pm on 9 September to hold a vigil and stage a one-minute silence.

The Health and Safety Executive is continuing its investigation into the accident.
