Reubens to sell chunk of McCarthy & Stone stake

The consortium that bought McCarthy & Stone for £1.1bn last year is planning to sell a large part of its stake in the business, according to the Financial Times.

It says that that the Rueben Brothers will reduce their 32% stake to 20% while HBOS will slash its 58% stake to 20%. The newspaper says the consortium are selling down their holdings because HBOS does not want to keep the business on its balance sheet.

Ministers urged to extend grants for solar panels as demand soars

Ministers are being put under pressure to scrap the monthly cap on the number of homes that qualify for grants for ‘green’ energy sources, the Independent reports on Saturday. The cap on grants for devices such as solar panels and wind turbines was imposed last year following a sharp rise in consumer demand.
