Work is expected to start on site in early 2012

Liverpool council has granted planning permission for 268 homes in Speke, Liverpool.

The Peel Group and Barratt Homes have formed a strategic partnership to deliver the project, and will also collaborate on a number of Peel’s key residential sites in the North-west and North-east of England.

The latest site is located off Speke Hall Avenue, in an area which is undergoing an exciting resurgence of regeneration and development for retail, leisure, commercial, business and housing.

Work is expected to start on site in early 2012.

Neil Goodwin, managing director of Barratt Manchester, said: “We are delighted to have worked so quickly and successfully through the planning process and can now look forward to starting on site and to building and selling much-needed new Barratt homes in Speke.

“Our on-going, constructive relationship with Liverpool City Council assisted in the planning application being determined in early course.  This is a great achievement very early in the life of the Framework Agreement between Peel and Barratt and we are looking forward to further progress in the coming months.”

Louise Morrissey, director of land and planning at Peel, added: “We are pleased to achieve this significant success to help towards the continuing regeneration of the Speke-Garston corridor. Peel is happy to have found the right partner and projects to deliver significant investment in major new development schemes to serve local demand.”
