Three-storey building to replace two existing offices on research park site

Perkins & Will has submitted plans for a three-storey laboratory building in Cambridge.

The scheme at Vision Park, a life sciences research park north of Cambridge, will replace two existing office buildings with a single larger building.

Project client The Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) said the site offers a “unique opportunity to develop a high quality laboratory facility that is both sustainable and highly adaptable, strategically positioned on the edge of Cambridge”.

Vision Park is located in the heart of the city’s northern research cluster, part of the largest concentration of life sciences firms in Europe.

The park is part of RLAM’s portfolio in the city totalling more than 500,000sq ft of assets, including Cambridge Research Park.

The developer was also behind Arup’s refurbishment of 1 Triton Square in central London on a 50/50 joint venture with British Land, completed in 2021 by Lendlease.

The project team for the Vision Park scheme includes Buro Four as project manager, CB3 as quantity surveyor, CRE8 Structures as structural engineer, Stantec on planning, transport and heritage, Buro Happold on MEP and sustainability and JLL as laboratory advisor.
