Piling rig collapse in south London

A piling rig collapsed at the Berkeley Homes-owned St George Wharf site in Vauxhall, south London, yesterday.

The Health and Safety Executive said it was making enquiries into the accident at the residential and office complex. Nobody was hurt and the driver escaped unharmed.

Sources on site said the ground had given way under the Miller Piling rig as a result of the rain in recent days.

The equipment toppled over and came within a few metres of the windows of Lambeth council’s offices.
