A £1bn business park is being planned by Miller Developments of Edinburgh and American architect RTKL on the site of a former US airbase in Cheshire.
An outline planning application is to be submitted this summer for the business park, known as Omega, which will offer 650,000 m2 of office and industrial space.

The site, lying north-west of Warrington, was once the largest US base in Europe. At 226 ha, it is twice the size of Stockley Park at Heathrow, or Edinburgh Park.

In RTKL's masterplan, the park is divided into seven campuses that will be developed in phases over 25 or 30 years, creating 24,000 jobs.

The masterplan envisages a mix of offices, production, technology and distribution space, combined with some housing to link the scheme to local communities. The centrepiece will be a high-rise cluster comprising a hotel and conference centre, health club and restaurant.

The project team includes Ian White Associates as landscape architect and WSP as civil, structural and services engineer. The land belongs to English Partnerships
