Proposal replaces former plan for 680 homes on site and neighbouring land
PRP has lodged a fresh application for its plans to redevelop a housing estate near the Roundhouse venue in Camden.
The 478-home scheme for Riverside Group and its development partner Countryside replaces a previous plan for 680 homes on the Juniper Crescent site and neighbouring land.
The new scheme would replace an existing 120-home estate built in 1997 with eight blocks of between five and 15 storeys on the 1.5ha site, which is located between railway lines on part of the former Camden Goods Yard.
The former scheme was submitted to Camden council in 2020 but later withdrawn. It would have covered the Juniper Crescent site and the nearby Gilbey’s Yard, the latter having been carved off from the scheme under the revised plans.
Both sets of proposals were formerly being developed for One Housing Group but have now been put under the Riverside brand following the merger of the two housing associations.
The project team includes Price and Myers on structures and civils, Aecom on sustainability and energy, Heyne Tillett Steel on transport, Ashton Fire on fire safety and Quod on planning.
The project team across the two sets of proposals has remained largely the same, although Alan Baxter Associates has been swapped out for Heyne Tillett Steel in the transport consultant role.
The site comprises the northern section of the former Camden Goods Yard, neighbouring Allies & Morrison’s 573-home regeneration scheme which is currently under construction.
It is also close to DSDHA’s approved plans to build a student accommodation scheme next to the Roundhouse.
