Building Design Partnership has designed this £27m academy for a tiny site in Hackney, east London.

The compact corridor-free design is in the form of a horseshoe enclosing a roof terrace playground. The play terrace sits above the school hall and library and is covered by a transparent roof. The academy is sponsored by UBS Investment Bank, with BDP as architect and engineer, Place Group as overall project manager, Tribal Property Services as construction project manager and Davis Langdon as QS.
